So everyone has asked, debated, and/or referenced this issue for quite sometime. Well now, Pope WILL speak and hopefully put it all to rest, once and for all. The Issue at hand? Pope Shades! Here’s a quick history lesson that should shine some light on this situation:
During the beginning of 2008, Pope, *ahem* Elijah is to go to RAW but plans were nixed as a much heralded retirement was being planned. After ‘Mania, Pope was supposed to be moved again but certain things happened, a strong man became furious, a freebird took a short hiatus, creative musical chairs were played, and Elijah was left on hold. Now the plan was to wait until the draft before Elijah's move was to take place. Well for the sake of being short, you all know what happened. Elijah wasn’t moved, a freebird returned, a strong man became ECW World Champion, Kofi (my good friend) became IC Champ, MVP after a losing streak was re-elevated to U.S Champ, and Elijah was uhm, yea, what about Elijah? Well, Elijah was left yet again in creative limbo, but at least the "non-proverbial quota" had been fulfilled.
During this time,Elijah had been the Black Pope on ECW.com for well over a year and a half, with a great congregation in flow. I got an idea, let’s use this time to bring Elijah’s cyberspace face to that of the television viewing audience. On June 3, 2008 Pope (yes, Pope) walks into the Los Angeles Staples Center for Smackdown/ECW tapings wearing his Pope Shades. Upon entering, the FIRST PERSON to walk up to Pope and give a rave review of his shades was none other than, (you got it)the undead rock star. He put over how cool they were and even asked Pope where he got them from. Now allow Pope to make one thing clear, Johnny and Pope have NO issues, and have been cool over the years, but Pope could definitely see the “lust in his eyes” over Pope Shades....BROTHER!!! After Elijah’s last match with Hardy on SmackDown, in which Elijah wrestled with a serious case of Pneumonia as verified by docs who said,” Elijah shouldn’t wrestle tonight, and needs to be sent to a hospital, and flown home.” Well, Elijah did wrestle, and with a fever of over 102 degrees (Go YouTube it and you’ll clearly see Elijah's not himself, not really talking in fear of vomiting). Elijah did go home, and stayed there until his release in Nov. 08.
Royal Rumble Jan. 2009, the undead rocker debuted his version of Pope Shades. While it would have been cool to receive a call, none was really needed. In this business, “stealing is something of the norm” and while you usually ask the favor/blessings of those your cool with to make sure it’s ok, maybe the undead rocker thought that Pope WAS dead, never to be seen again. How WRONG was he, and the E!? But I digress, him going out there and paying homage to “Pope” was good enough for me. I mean, seriously, he can’t wear them like YOUR Pope anyways, so why bother. The only people that look good wearing Pope Shades are Pope and his Congregation. Got Your Pope Shades??? |

| I don't think he has any beef with him what so ever, more just pointing out that he took his ideas
I like the Pope to, he reminds me of a cross between the Rock and Michael Jackson |

| haha I remember when Shad gaspard nicked a few of his moves, he did a similar rant, this was when he was off tv for a while too I think. He hinted at his return as the pope, properly, then was released. its all in jest, but he obviously isn't happy at how his wwe career went. I like how he's suggesting the wwe had to fill a quota of black wrestlers as champions  |
