| At the TLC PPV, John Morrison turned in a career performance. He carried Sheamus to a career-best match, it stole the show, and he began to look like a star, as opposed to the posing pretty-boy I always thought he was. His reward? The Number 1 Contendership for the WWE title, currently held by The Miz.
As we all know, there's history between the two. The long-running tag team, the Dirt Sheet, the 'bro-mance'... it tailed off when they were separated in the Draft, and we've never had the blow-off between them. A couple of matches here and there, the occasional 'I lead the team!' promo, and that was about it.
When Morrison became the No 1 contender, I was hoping the WWE 'we need to make new stars, and quick!' movement was going to get behind JoMo. The feud between the two would be simple to book, they could have had the match at the Royal Rumble (a PPV that does not need a huge title match to sell it, the Rumble match itself does that), and without the pressure of having to lead the show and whack the buyrates up, they could have had a competitive match.
And then, as they always seem to, WWE appear to have bottled it. Instead of the two headlining the Rumble, we have a 'Falls Count anywhere' match... on Raw next week. Instead of JoMo and Miz finally ending the history between them, we get essentially a nothing match on Raw. And I'm getting an increasingly sinking feeling the WWE Youth Movement will be throwing it's weight between that real up-and-coming rookie, Jerry Lawler for the headline slot at the Rumble.
As far as I can see, no-one will benefit from this at all. Miz, I fully expect to retain his title against until after the Rumble. JoMo is made to look like a chump, incapable of doing his thing on the big stage. If he wins, Miz looks like the chump whoi only just managed to beat a pensioner thanks to a commentator, has lost in successive weeks to Lawler, and would pretty much ruin all the work WWE has done with him. If they just gave JoMo the shot at the Rumble, gave the feud a solid 3 or 4 week build, who knows what could happen?
Again, it seems to me that WWE know they need new stars, and quick. And yet, they seem so utterly reluctant to actually pull the trigger on any of them. |

| i expect some kind of interference in the title match, then for them to have a steel cage match at the rumble to finish the fued. |

| Like Hodge, I'm expecting Morrison to lose due to interference and he gets his rematch at the Rumble. A WWE title Falls Count Anywhere Match on RAW sounds good on paper but as it is RAW, we will watch more adverts than footage of the actual match.
I reckon the Rumble match will be a Fatal Four Way involving Miz, Morrison, Orton and Lawler or even a Scramble match with Alex Riley thrown into the mix. |

| I was quite surprised by that decision on Raw also. But then again, like the 2 above, i also think that it'll be a non decision finish and they'll have a rematch at the Royal Rumble! |

| I'm also inclined to believe that this will be used to build up the inevitable Rumble title match although I'm sure there are other ways to get the feud going rather than having them go one on one on Raw. Maybe a tag match between Miz & Riley and Morrison and Lawler. Not as exciting a match as a Falls Count Anywhere but at least WWE wouldn't be giving away a one on one match for free just a couple of weeks before the PPV.
What disturbs me is that Lawler of all people is hovering anywhere near the WWE Title picture. That might have been acceptable in 1993 but not 2011. Fortunately I think WWE has more sense then to put him in an actual title match at the Rumble but I do see him getting involved in whatever match does take place. |

| The only silver lining I can see is some kind of Title vs Career match between Lawler and Miz, with Lawler losing and getting fired.
I dunno, when JoMo became the No 1 contender, I was hoping it'd be the launchpad for him. It'd just make more sense for next week to be a one-on-one match, with the Falls Count Anywhere at the Rumble as the final match. The way they're doing it is really giving me the impression that JoMo's WWE Title contendership is doomed already. |

| I thought that Miz and Morrison was to be at the Rumble, Miz to win in a screwy way so Morrison had a claim at the title which he would use to qualify for Elimination Chamber, pin the Miz in the Chamber match so he loses the title and Miz interferes to cost Morrison the title to keep the heat between them and then they have the big fued ender at Mania.
Well thats how I would have booked it anyway as I think that makes the most sense personally. But I think Grec is right in that its going to be Lawler vs Miz at the Rumble which is just, well, dumb quite frankly and I think its a travesty that Morrison isnt getting a title shot at the Rumble and a wasted opportunity which shows that WWE just dont have any back bone. |

| only reason i would want to see Lawler Vs Miz at RR would be in a title Vs Career match where Lawler must leave WWE. |
