I recently began the task of watching every WWF PPC, I am at the 1998 King Of The Ring which in my eyes is one of The best, but I suppose that is mainly because its so memorable due to Taker v Mankind

What is everyones favourite PPV Wrestlemania 17 is also up there for me

There are a couple I like. mania 24 is my favourite Mania, Summerslam last year was great, the mitb from Chicago (2011?) was great. Older ones, the Fully Loaded PPV where Fatu splashed val venis off the top of the cage was great, Summerslam 2000 and 2003....

Good choice Grec. I'm terrible at remembering what happened when, but know that was Taker vs Edge and that had built up for what must have been the whole year. The build up was where Edge became the ultimate opportunist beating Taker after Henry squished him in a cage after a big match anyway. For me, they had to be the two best in ring psychologists of the era, maybe of all time, although I still think people under rate Edge, because they really hated him, which for me confirms why he was so good. People had wised up to wrestling, but still really hated him.

I have to say I really liked the ECW event they did, before it got overdone. I'm going to guess it featured Edge vs Foley and Cena was in a match and the crowd was amazing and really got stuck into him, which is fair for ECW fans. In did he fight though RVD? Someone from ECW I imagine.

it was actually the 2nd i've checked it. Edge had beat Foley at mania 22 and then then later Foley turned heel and joined Edge. And it was RVD vs Cena. I think heyman was back for it too, which was obviously why it was good.

RVD vs Cena is worth watching, just for the crowd.

Sexton I remember that feud, I was livid when it happened and I thought Undertaker was gonna keep the title. I hated Edge for so long during that year and couldn't wait until he lost it. When Taker came back for that HIAC match I remember buying the PPV purely for that reason.

it was a real emotional battle. The kind of thing Bryan lacks unfortunately, which is why i'm hoping Ambrose can live up to the hype i'm giving him, ha. There was something about WWE back then, it wasn't the attitude era, the whole product may have lacked the Austin/Rock figure, though Cena was doing his best probably, maybe not quite then, it's a blur. But Smackdown had this huge attitude era type feud running and wrestling felt real again. People were so emotionally involved and got the payoff at Mania with the streak, and the title. Even though taker would win, I remember being really into it and kind of hoping/thinking Edge might win. Which is fine when not at an event lol i'd have cheered Taker if I were there.

Yeah I agree, Smackdown was excellent during that period, can't remember much about RAW, but for me it wasn't as good as Smackdown at that time.

When it came to that match at Wrestlemania, I really did think Edge would win because all throughout that year he weaselled his way in and out of title matches throughout that year leading up to the Mania. I had it taped for the next day when I came home from college early to watch it and went crazy when Undertaker won.

For me the best PPVs are ones where there's a great atmosphere even if not all the matches are that good. A case in point is Invasion 2001. It had a great atmosphere and a great selling-point but quite a few of the matches are average at best. But it's still one of favourites.

Other favourites are the second One Night Stand, Money in the Bank 2011 (again, great atmospheres but with great matches too) and Summerslam 2002 - a rare PPV where every match had a story behind it.

St Valentines Day was a cracker.

I must say going through some of the old PPV's is great fun. I forgot some of the wrestlers or how good they were.

Just currently up to St Valentines Day and I have just finished watching Shamrock v Val, has anyone ever noticed that when Ken goes out of the ring to confront his sister, he says 'slap me'.

Funny little thing I have only just noticed.

Of course. I remember mackem was a 15 year old. Royal rumble 2000 was on channel 4. Striptease was on before the rumble. I set my VHS to long play. Memories...

I watched that with a non-wrestling fan who was 'curious'. A low point.
